What is mig33?

mig33 is the ultimate extension for your mobile phone.

It is a combination mobile instant messenger and international calling card service. You can chat to your buddies and meet new friends using the group chat rooms, profiling, photo sharing, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL Messenger and our wholesale SMS service. And when you want to make a phone call, you can launch a call back to your mobile phone or landline at competitive discount calling card rates. See the rates before you make a call on the mobile.

All this functionality is accessible from one easy-to-use mobile application. It's designed to have a very small footprint and to work on the widest range of mobile handsets (Java MIDP1.0 and MIDP2.0 phones)

And with Version 3.0 beta, you can bring mig33 back to the website. You can now chat using your PC to mig33 user, either via private chat or by joining our many chat rooms. Share your photos on your PC, and make even cheaper calls by using our VoIP PC Toolbar.

Messaging is free to use. SMS and Voice services are at competitive wholesale rates. When you install mig33 for the first time, you'll have some free credit to try out the SMS and Voice Service. To get more credit, you can either buy more by Credit Card, receive bonus credit by Inviting your friends to mig33, or by buying Credit in bulk by Telegraphic Transfer.

You can even run your own Calling Card business by buying Credit in bulk and using the Send Credit functionality to sell Credit to other users.

GETTING STARTED

To get started, you’ll need around 5 minutes of your time, a compatible and properly configured phone, and to follow the steps below:

1. REGISTER

Open the web browser in your mobile phone and go to http://wap.mig33.com.  Scroll down and select ‘Join mig33’ and follow the instructions.  Make sure that when you enter your mobile phone number to include the country code (e.g. if you’re in the Australia (61) and your number is 0412 365 4123, then enter +614123654123).

When the registration is successful, you will be sent an SMS with your login details and an activation code.  You will need these later.  If you don’t receive an SMS, it’s most likely that the phone number was entered incorrectly.

Now that you’ve successfully registered, proceed with Installing the application on your phone.

2. INSTALLATION

There are two ways which you can get mig33 application onto your mobile phone:

A. From the WAP site

From the Wapsite (http://wap.mig33.com), select 'Download mig33'.  If we are able to pre-detect what phone you have, you’ll automatically be presented with an option to download the application on your phone along with helpful hints should you have a problem.  If we are unable to pre-detect the phone that you have, you’ll be presented with a list of handsets and you should select the one closest to yours.

The Download process may take a couple of minutes, you will be prompted to install the application and run mig33 for the first time.

B. Transfer from Desktop to Phone

If you want to save on GPRS costs when installing the application, you can try installing mig33 by opening the *.zip file and installing the right version of mig33 for your phone.  You should be able to do this by Bluetooth or by Cable depending on what hardware you have.  Please consult your Handset manual.

The *.zip file has three versions of mig33 contained within it:

• mig33 V 3.0 lite has the reduced mobile feature set. Generally this is compatible with phones that are only Java midp 1.0 and above.
• mig33 V 3.0 Beta (signed) has the complete feature set. Generally this is compatible with phones that are Java midp 2.0 and above. A signed midlet is a trusted application.
• mig33 V 3.0 Beta (unsigned) has the complete feature set. Generally this is compatible with phones that are Java midp 2.0 and above. Some phones may not accept signed application.

After installation, you`ll be prompted to run mig33 for the first time.

3. RUNNING FOR THE FIRST TIME

When you open the application for the first time, mig33 will try and predetect your network settings and find the best way to connect to our servers in the USA, Europe and Asia (by TCP/IP, HTTP, or Manual Override).  Some phones such as Sony's and Motorolas may need some special configuration to let mig33 connect to the mobile internet. Please consult with our FAQ for any special instructions relating to your handset.

You will then be asked to enter your Username and Password and then Log in.  You will then be asked to enter the Activation Code (see Registration above).  Activating the account will give you access to Chatrooms, VOIP calls, and other services.

To setup MSN, Yahoo, and AOL/ICQ access, open the Menu and select ‘Other IM’, then open each IM to enter your settings.  Within that menu you can connect / disconnect from each of the other IMs.

4. CONGRATULATIONS!!

If you`ve followed these steps, you`re now a mig33 member. It's that easy!

NOTE:

• Some phones may require a second internet setting to connect to mig33. This is referred to as the ‘Internet GPRS` setting. Simply contact your network provider to get this setting on your phone.
• The mig33 application may be saved under menu names such as games, downloads, java, applications, or extras.
• Our camera feature works best on Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones. We cannot guarentee that it will work on other mobile phones such as LG, Samsung, Motorola etc. We would appreciate feedback from you regarding these mobile phones.
